Campout 2012

Where : We will be going to Shanghai Haiwan National Forest Park.  It is located in Pudong approximately 1 hours drive from Dulwich.  www.shfpark.com

The campsite has bathrooms nearby as well as BBQ pit with charcoal grills.  There are also activities available on site such as go karting, horseback riding, etc.

How : We will arrange for bus transportation which will depart from Dulwich at 9 am on Saturday Oct 15th.  We will aim to depart from the campsite on Sunday Oct 16th at 9.30 am so we should be able to arrive back to Dulwich on Sunday morning at 10.30 am (or latest by 11 am).

Den arrangement : Each den is responsible for arranging meals for Saturday lunch and Sunday breakfast.

The schedule for the campout will be:

SATURDAY OCT 15th

• 9 am:   Departure from Dulwich (arrive early to allow time for boarding)
• 10 am: Arrival at campsite.  Those not taking the bus should also plan to arrive at 10 am
• 10 to Noon: set up camp
• Noon:  opening ceremony (Wolf dens)
• Noon to 1 pm:  Lunch (arranged by den)
• 1 pm to 6 pm: Den activities
• 6 pm: Hamburger dinner (prepared by Pack)
• 7 pm: Bonfire! Skits! Awards!
• 9 pm:  Lights out

SUNDAY OCT 16th

• 7-8 am: Breakfast
• 8-9 am: Pack up camp
• 9:30 am: Buses depart
• 10.30 am: arrival at Dulwich (latest 11 am)

Things for the boys to bring:

• Class B uniform (ie. the yellow shirts from last year. New shirts will be provided to the scouts this year as well on Saturday morning).  Dont bring the dress uniforms as it may be hot and SLIDES often get lost
• Tent
• Sleeping bag
• AIr pad (optional)
• Water bottles
• Bug spray
• FLASHLIGHTS (headlamps are great).  It gets dark now around 6.30 pm!!  Assume no lights at the campsite.
• Good outside shoes
• Sweater and jacket for evening.  Be prepared in case it gets chilly!
• Raingear (you never know)
• HATS (to protect from the sun)
• Sunscreen lotion
• First aid kit
• NO IPODS, IPADS, NINTENDOS, or other electronics which can be damaged or lost!
